Welcome to the 1st Great Amwell History Website
Our Scout Group was initially started during 1941 by the Revd Thomas
Gill Leech. It was a Sea Scout group with 23 boys and 2 leaders.
They originally met in the Vicars room at Hillside Lane, Great
Amwell.
In the 1960s after a short closure due to leader shortages, the
group reformed as a Scout group and relocated to London Road,
Ware in Hertfordshire, UK.
Over the last 40 years the group has increased in size and now has
two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs and a one Scout Troop. Throughout
its long history, we have always been associated with seven other
Scout Groups in and around Ware which form Ware and District Scouts.
